The department has provided an update on the pedestrian's condition, stating that they were evaluated and treated by emergency services after the incident. They are currently recovering at the hospital. The organization will host a “Celebration of Life” community memorial service in Oak Hill on Tuesday, October 27, at Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church at 6:00 p.m. The memorial will feature a candle-lighting ceremony, selected readings, and a video honoring lost loved ones.  #FayetteCounty #WOAY

On Monday, October 19, the clinics will be at Montgomery City Hall from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., then Smithers City Hall from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. On Tuesday, October 20, there will be one clinic at the Ansted Town Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. On Wednesday, October 21, there will be one clinic at Meadow Bridge Town Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. On Thursday, October 22, the clinics will be at Oak Hill City Hall from 9:00  to 11:00 am and then they wrap up at Mount Hope City Hall from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. #FayetteCounty #WOAY

Governor Patrick Morrisey and WorkForce West Virginia say the assistance is available to eligible individuals who live or work in Fayette, Harrison, and Kanawha counties and experienced job loss or an interruption in work because of the storms from August 14-18.  The assistance may also cover eligible self-employed workers, including farmers who are not typically covered by regular state unemployment insurance. Several areas will also close Friday evening. The Canyon Rim Visitor Center parking lot and grounds will close at 5:30 p.m. this evening, while Fayette Station Road will close to vehicles at 6:00 p.m. and remain closed until sometime after 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Private boaters should also be aware that vehicles will not be allowed down to Fayette Station or Teays Landing during bridge day. The Bread & Puppet Theater will present its "Upside Down World Circus" on October 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Historic Oak Hill School.  The performance will feature giant puppets, stilt dancers, music, slapstick, and other forms of visual theater.  Tickets are $15, with free admission available for children under 12 and anyone who needs a ticket.  #FayetteCounty #WOAY

The event will begin at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building on West Maple Avenue, where a plaque will honor musician Charlie McCoy. The group will then walk to Maple Avenue and Court Street to honor police chief Tunney Hunsaker. The final stop will be near Wisteria Gifts on South Court Street, where the city will honor Thomas Sweeney, Fayetteville’s first black attorney and a longtime supporter of education. #FayetteCounty #WOAY

According to the Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the court sentenced 43-year-old Reginald K. Stevenson of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, to 10 years in prison for conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act. He was also sentenced to a consecutive term of 1 to 15 years for possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver.  #FayetteCounty #WOAY

According to the Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, 45-year-old Sharrell E. Bell of Beckley will serve 7 years in prison for conspiracy to deliver and possess fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine with the intent to deliver. Bell was also sentenced to a 3-year consecutive term for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Bell is unable to legally possess a firearm due to a prior conviction for felonious assault in Michigan in 2003. #FayetteCounty #WOAY

30-year-old Jordan W. Loudin was sentenced to two 1- to 3-year prison terms and fined $3,000. The sentences will run concurrently, but consecutively to a prior felony conviction. Prosecutors say Loudin was under community corrections supervision when he drove to and from the Fayette County Day Report Center in May, despite having his license revoked. #FayetteCounty #WOAY

Residents may see smoke coming from sewer vents during the testing.  Officials say the smoke is non-toxic, non-staining, and does not create a fire hazard. If smoke enters your home through a faulty sewer connection, residents are asked not to be alarmed.  #FayetteCounty #WOAY

Organizers say they will prepare 4,000 meals, which will be distributed at nine locations throughout the area. This year, there will be no individual call-in orders for fewer than 12 meals. Instead, people can simply visit one of the distribution sites on Thanksgiving Day and pick up as many meals as they need, on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The new internship pipeline will give Concord students real-world experience in hospitality, tourism, recreation, and service at the Summit Bechtel Reserve near Glen Jean. The program will offer paid summer internships for eligible Concord business students who work 60 days, along with mentorship, letters of completion and reference, and potential scholarship opportunities. #MercerCounty #FayetteCounty #WOAY

Organizers say there are currently only two teams signed up, but 15 teams are needed to ensure there is enough chili for the tasting segment on October 17. The competition is open to friends, family, workplace, school groups, or community organizations, with adult and youth divisions available. First-place winners will take home a $600 cash prize, with a $400 prize for second place.
