The Fayetteville Fire Department says crews were called around 11:30 a.m. after a 23-year-old man suffered a broken leg while climbing in the Fern Creek area near the New River. Initial reports placed the victim near Miller's Folly Rapid, but rescuers later determined he was located between a quarter and a half mile up a steep section of Fern Creek.  #FayetteCounty #WOAY

The 16-hour course is designed for hikers, campers, outdoor group leaders, and anyone spending time in the backcountry. Screenings are billed to insurance when available, but financial assistance is offered for those who qualify. Since 2009, Bonnie's Bus has provided more than 34,000 screenings across West Virginia, helping detect more than 200 cases of breast cancer. Sheriff Jess McMullen reports that deputies responded near the intersection of Coles Road and Deepwater Mountain Road, where investigators say a white Honda Ridgeline traveled off the roadway and onto nearby railroad tracks. Officials say the vehicle struck and damaged railroad property and signage before overturning into a creek. Emergency responders worked to free the driver, who became trapped inside the vehicle. #FayetteCounty #WOAY

Services include counseling for depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and the psychological effects of military sexual trauma. The center also assists with accessing support from the Department of Veterans Affairs and connects attendees with available community resources.
