Community members can bring up to 25 gently used books for a chance to receive store credit toward future purchases.   Organizers say they're especially looking for fiction, kids' books, and regional titles, but note that not all books will be accepted.   Anyone wanting to trade in books has to stick around while they are inspected and take back any books that cannot be accepted.  #FayetteCounty #WOAY

This year, ballots will arrive in updated envelopes.    The clerk's office says the change only affects the appearance of the envelope, not the voting process itself.     Voter eligibility, ballot contents, and security procedures all remain the same.    County Clerk Michelle Holly says the update is to avoid confusion and reminds voters that even though the envelopes may look different, election security remains a top priority.    #FayetteCounty #WOAY

Sheriff Jess McMullen states that the department has received reports that residents are getting calls from individuals identifying themselves as law enforcement. The callers are telling residents that they have outstanding warrants and demanding immediate payment from them to avoid arrests. Some are requesting victims to pay the fine using gift cards, prepaid debit cards, and electronic payment apps. The Fayette County Sheriff's Department stresses that these calls are fake and that they will never contact you by phone to pay warrants or fines #FayetteCounty #WOAY

The Southern Appalachian Labor School will host a food pantry in Fayette County this afternoon. The organization will set up at its Beards Fork location at 1862 Beards Fork Rd from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m while supplies last. #FayetteCounty #WOAY

According to Fayette County Sheriff Jess McMullen, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on U.S Route 19 near Scarbro for a minor traffic violation on Saturday, May 2. After receiving consent from the driver, deputies searched the vehicle and discovered over 5 grams of suspected fentanyl and other items consistent with narcotics use and distribution. #FayetteCounty #WOAY

While deputies were on their way to the scene Fayette County 911 notified them that they received a call from a Child Protective Services worker who witnessed the man hit a small child in the face. Authorities later discovered the man is the child's father. The worker further reported the man attempted to assault her as well and threatened her when she stepped in to protect the child. #FayetteCounty #WOAY

Fayette Station Road will be closed temporarily to vehicle traffic on Saturday, May 2, for the New River Gorge Rim to Rim race from 6:00 am to 10:00 am. The closure will take place at the intersection of Lansing Loop and CR 82/Fayette Station Road. #FayetteCounty #WOAY
