Suspect identified in Fayette County double stabbing

Kanawha Falls, WV (WOAY) – The suspect in the fatal stabbing in Fayette County that left one person dead and another in critical condition has been identified. 

45-year-old John H. Craig has been charged with felony murder and malicious assault. 

He was arraigned this morning by a Fayette County magistrate and currently awaits further court proceedings in Southern Regional Jail in place of bond. 

According to Fayette County Sheriff Mike Fridley, deputies responded to a call reporting two stabbing victims in Kanawha Falls. 

Upon arrival, they discovered a man with a wound on his head and a woman with a body wound. 

Both were taken to Montgomery General Hospital, where the male victim succumbed to his injuries.  

The female victim remains in critical condition.  

The victim’s names have not been released pending notifications to their families. 

After interviewing witnesses, deputies identified a person of interest, sparking a manhunt that spanned hours.

The search ended when Sheriff Fridley found Craig hidden under the Kanawha bridge.
