Families who previously qualified for a school clothing voucher can contact the Raleigh County DHHR to request a referral.  Once a referral is received, families can bring it to the Beckley Housing Authority, where staff will help provide school clothing and other available assistance.  #RaleighCounty #WOAY

The program is open to students in kindergarten through fifth grade and offers flexible learning from home with live instruction from certified teachers. Raleigh County Schools announces all 26 schools are participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2026–2027 school year. Classes begin Tuesday, August 18, but activities get underway Monday, August 17, with freshman convocation at 8:45 a.m. inside Van Meter Gymnasium.  Students can also enjoy a welcome cookout Monday afternoon, featuring food, games and entertainment behind the Bears Den.  Then Wednesday, August 19, the City of Beckley and community partners will host a welcome celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Library and Learning Resource Center.  #RaleighCounty #WOAY

Throughout the investigation, detectives gathered evidence that led to the arrest of a suspect, 41-year-old Harold Johanna Dietrick Heyen.
