Wayne County man sentenced to 5 years in prison in connection with fatal hit and run
Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney Anthony Ciliberti Jr. says Anthony W. Hay was sentenced Thursday to the maximum prison term for aggravated vehicular homicide.Â
Hay was also fined $20,000 and must serve 15 months before becoming eligible for parole.Â
Investigators say the crash happened in October of 2025, when hay’s commercial box truck struck Jack D. Walter of North Carolina, who was outside his disabled vehicle on the turnpike.
Walter was killed, and authorities say Hay left the scene.Â

Woman arrested on grand larceny, indecent exposure charges in Oak Hill
According to Sheriff Jess McMullen, deputies responded to a car accident on Route 19 in Oak Hill involving a 2023 Kia Forte that had allegedly been stolen earlier in the day from Beckwith.
