A warning out of McDowell County. Law enforcement says scammers are targeting residents with threats about jury duty. The McDowell County Sheriff's Office says callers are posing as deputies, claiming you've missed jury duty and demanding payment to avoid arrest. #McDowellCounty #WOAY

School officials report that all McDowell County Schools are currently under a lockdown at the direction of local 911 officials. School officials report this is a precautionary safety measure.  They report that students and staff are safe and following established safety procedures. During a lockdown, students cannot be released, and we ask that families please refrain from coming to school campuses. School officials state they will provide updates to families as more information becomes available.  McDowell County Schools thanks the community for its cooperation and support.
