Deputy Villers began investigating a stolen vehicle reported in the Piney View area on August 24 and developed information identifying 48-year-old Michael Shawn Ayers as a possible suspect. The vehicle was later located in Beckley. #RaleighCounty #WOAY

The monthly ARH support group meets on the first Thursday of each month and provides educational information, resources, and opportunities for connection. Families who previously qualified for a school clothing voucher can contact the Raleigh County DHHR to request a referral.  Once a referral is received, families can bring it to the Beckley Housing Authority, where staff will help provide school clothing and other available assistance.  #RaleighCounty #WOAY

The program is open to students in kindergarten through fifth grade and offers flexible learning from home with live instruction from certified teachers. Students receive a free device, technical support, small-group instruction, and tutoring. Students in grades 3 through 5 can also try out and participate in elementary sports. #RaleighCounty #WOAY

Raleigh County Schools announces all 26 schools are participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2026–2027 school year.
