WVU Tech police investigating vehicle break ins and a car theft on campus

Beckley, WV (WOAY) WVU Tech police are investigating several recent vehicle break-ins and an auto theft on campus.

Police say incidents were reported in the Church Street and University Hall parking lots.

One vehicle was stolen from the church street lot, but it has since been recovered.

Investigators say suspects targeted unlocked vehicles and visible valuables, while also forcing entry into some locked cars.

Police are reminding students and staff to always lock their vehicles, keep valuables out of sight, and never leave keys inside.

They also recommend parking in well-lit, high-traffic areas and using anti-theft devices when available.

Anyone who has been a victim or sees suspicious activity is asked to contact university police at 304-929-COPS.

Police also encourage people to note the suspect’s description and the direction they were traveling.
