Beckley Police Department and Southern Regional Highway Safety Program to host Child Car Seat and Booster Check event on April 17

Beckley, WV (WOAY)—The Beckley Police Department and the Southern Regional Highway Safety Program are hosting an event to keep children safe when traveling in the car. 

The free child car seat and booster check kick off on Wednesday, April 17, at the parking lot beside the Beckley Police Department. 

Certified child passenger safety technicians will be on the scene to check if children’s car and booster seats are correctly installed. 

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), In a crash, booster seats reduce the risk of serious injury by 45% for children ages 4 to 8, and car seats decrease serious injury risks by 71 to 82%. 

The event will be held in the parking lot beside the Beckley Police Department, and blue cones will be placed at the event entrance.
