Welch, WV (WOAY) The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office says two people are in custody following an investigation into attempted contraband introduction at FCI McDowell.
Deputies received reports on September 2 of people attempting to bring contraband into the federal correctional facility.
The investigation led to the arrest of 38-year-old Magaly Fiallo Galindo of Rochelle, Illinois.
She is charged with aiding escape and other offenses relating to correctional facilities, along with conspiracy.
37-year-old Manuel Santiago Sanchez was also taken into custody and is being held in connection with immigration violations.
The Welch Police Department and West Virginia State Police’s Welch Detachment assisted with the investigation.
The case remains under investigation, and additional charges could be filed.
