It is a nice day in most areas after some heavy rain last night in parts of the region. The showers today have been confined to areas in the Greenbrier Valley and Pocahontas County. It’s a similar setup that we saw yesterday around the region, with the rain starting in the same area before spreading to the west. One major difference is the lack of rain in the southern coalfields when compared to what we saw yesterday. Still, though, some showers and storms will spread towards the west as the evening goes on.

Coverage and intensity will not be as great as what we saw yesterday, but any shower or storm that pops up will produce heavy rain since there is still a lot of moisture to work with. Patchy fog will be possible late, especially in areas that see a shower or storm.

Tomorrow will be a nice day in the area. An isolated shower or two can’t be ruled out, but we should stay dry for the most part. Highs will be close to normal, with most areas reaching the lower 80s. Tomorrow night will be similar to tonight, minus the fog. Lows both tonight and tomorrow night will be in the lower 60s.
The weekend will feature the approach of another front into the area. This second front has the coolest air that we’ve seen in months behind it. It will also give us good chances for showers and storms on both weekend days. Once again, heavy rain is possible with any storm that does pop up since the moisture flow from the Gulf won’t get turned off until later Sunday night.

Highs both weekend days will be below the normal, mainly due to the extra cloud cover associated with the front. We’ll top out in the upper 70s and lower 80s on Saturday and in the middle to upper 70s on Sunday.
Early next week, the cool air will finally invade the region. Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below the normal for several days running. Highs on Tuesday will not even be able to make it to 70 degrees in many areas, quite a contrast to the LOWS that were in similar territory only a week or so ago! With high pressure in charge of our weather, the chances for rain are basically zero.
