West Virginia (WOAY)- The state is being recognized on the national stage for its commitment to college access and financial aid support.
The National College Attainment Network is praising West Virginia for climbing the ranks in FAFSA completion.
The Mountain State is jumping from 19th to 15th in the nation, and at one point during this year’s cycle, even reached the top 10.
West Virginia earned this achievement without a statewide FAFSA mandate.
Instead, the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, in partnership with schools across the state, focused on outreach, data, and community support.
Initiatives such as WV FAFSA Day, the TXT 4 Success program, and counselor support tools helped turn FAFSA into a milestone moment.
Schools were even rewarded for increasing their completion rates through the state’s Champions of College Access Challenge.
