Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – A former officer at Southern Regional Jail has pleaded guilty to his role in the alleged beating of multiple pre-trial detainees.
Nathaniel Pack admitted that he conspired with other officers to use unreasonable and unjustified force against detainees from April 2020 to March 2022.
Investigators say at least 4 inmates were taken to blind spots in interview rooms and cells where there was no surveillance.
Those inmates were then allegedly beaten, causing serious injuries. Pack admitted to helping make false reports to cover up injuries and unreasonable force.
He faces up to 10 years in prison and a 250 thousand dollar fine.
