It is a cold evening around southern West Virginia, but compared to what we’ve seen recently, it’s positively balmy outside!

Temperatures this afternoon have been 15 to 25 degrees warmer than they were at this time Sunday afternoon. Tonight, will be cold again, but the overall warming trend will continue. Lows will be in the teens, with the colder readings in the usual colder spots. Skies will be mostly clear, and the roads should be as well, although there could be a couple of icy patches.

Tomorrow, we’ll see high pressure continue to be in charge of our weather, meaning it’s wall to wall sunshine and warmer temperatures. Highs will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s, once again not quite where they should be, but warmer than they were today.

Tomorrow night will be close to the normal for the first time in a while, with lows around the 30-degree mark, minus a couple of degrees.
The warmup continues through the middle of the week ahead of the next low-pressure center. Highs will make their way into the 50s on Thursday, almost 10 degrees above the normal and by that point will be the first time in three weeks that Beckley will have topped out in the 50s. With the approaching low, there will be showers but with the temperatures so far above freezing, the precipitation will fall in the wet form rather than the wintry form.

Behind this first front, we’ll see a cooldown again, but it’s only a temporary one. Highs will be in the middle 30s on Friday, but by Saturday, we’ll see highs near the 50-degree mark on what should be a spectacular day weather-wise. The end of the forecast turns active again, but once again most of the precipitation will fall as rain, instead of snow.
