Warm and muggy now, hot and dry later

After some morning showers, some sun has broken out around the area, and as a result, temperatures have risen into the 70s and 80s.
The atmosphere has become unstable, which means that any storms that pop up could be on the strong side. They’ll move in from the west and give us good chances for rain later this evening. With plenty of moisture around, again, there will be high rainfall rates in areas that see showers and some thunder to go along with the showers.
Since we’ve been so wet lately, almost any rain can cause issues, and anything over an inch will likely cause flooding.
Any storms that do become severe will contain damaging winds; the other threats that the Storm Prediction Center tracks will not be in play.
The chance for severe storms continues into tomorrow as the system that has given us so much rain takes one more shot at the area. A front swings through and gives another chance for damaging winds.
Technically, this is a cold front, but it will do anything but drive our temperatures down. As we go into the weekend, temperatures will rise, first to the middle and upper 80s on Saturday, then into the 90s on Sunday.
As we go into the next work week, the heat will stay turned up. Highs will stay in the 90s, and lows will be in the middle to upper 60s. The next chance for showers and storms will be just beyond the extended forecast.
