The active weather continues today as we are tracking some showers and isolated storms this afternoon in the southern and southwestern portions of the area. We’ll continue to see chances for rain for the next several days, starting this evening.

Continuing both tomorrow and Friday and through most of the weekend.

On Thursday, some of the storms will be on the strong side and there is a possibility that one or two of the storms will be severe. It’s a similar setup to the one that we saw yesterday, but the chances for severe weather and the severity of any severe weather that pops up are both lower.

But one thing is certain. Over the next few days, there will be plenty of moisture around, just like we’re seeing this afternoon.

Which will lead to good rainfall totals in most parts of West Virginia through early next week. It looks like the highest rain totals will be in the Greenbrier Valley and parts of Nicholas County, where more than 2 inches is being forecast by the European model.

But while we might normally be concerned with flooding, it’s been dry leading up to this stretch of active weather, as seen by looking at last week’s drought monitor, especially in the areas that are expecting the heaviest rain.

As for temperatures, we should be at or above the normal across the seven-day forecast, even the coolest days will be within a few degrees of the normal, and most days will be in the 70s. A light jacket will come in handy during the morning hours later this weekend and into early next week.
