Sweaty week with new record highs possible

Good evening, folks, and Happy Sunday! As we mentioned yesterday—it’s going to be hot, and today was just a taste of what’s in store for the week ahead. With highs climbing toward record levels, this is shaping up to be one seriously sweaty stretch, so grab that water bottle and keep it close!

If you haven’t stepped outside, brace yourself—feels-like temps are already in the 90s across the region this afternoon. That’s a solid 10 degrees above what we typically see this time of year, when averages hover in the upper 70s to low 80s. But this week, we’re looking at daily highs in the upper 80s and low 90s nearly every day.

A few stray showers or storms could try to pop up in the mountains on Monday and again toward the end of the week, but coverage will be very limited. Friday currently looks like our best chance for rain—but even then, most of us will likely stay dry.

Until then, stay cool, stay hydrated, and if you’ve got access to a pool—now’s the time to use it! We’ll keep you updated every step of the way right here on WOAY.
