WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Strong to severe storms are poised to pop up ahead of the cold front that will be passing through the region later today. These storms can produce damaging winds and heavier rainfall. Winds are the main concern, as gusts can get up to 60 MPH and cause damage across the region. While the flooding threat is on the low side, we can’t rule out repeated downpours in vulnerable spots. Tornadic activity and hail will not be in play, thankfully. Stay weather aware as the day goes on and more storms develop by downloading the StormWatch App and having multiple ways to receive alerts. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
The weather will continue to be active into Friday morning before clearing up after the morning commute. This makes room for pretty good weather during Fabulous Football Friday, but will not last for long as another cold front starts to approach Friday night. More showers and thunderstorms will begin overnight on Friday and last through Saturday evening . While these storms are looking weaker than today’s, downpours and gusty winds are still in the forecast. As we move into Sunday and the next work week, high pressure pushes the rain away and saves the day. Here’s a look at where the high pressure situates for the next few days after Saturday:

The rest of the extended forecast will feature a return to comfortable temperatures and sunny skies with a few clouds. This will be perfect weather for hiking or any other outdoor activities as we slowly warm up into the mid-70s by the middle of the week. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
