Weekend outlook: another mixed bag

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – Strong storms rumbled through the area once again this afternoon and evening. But, unlike yesterday, the storms were much more widespread, and the areas that saw severe weather were much greater. Tonight, some scattered storms are possible, and some of them could be strong.

Tomorrow will be a much better day, as we find ourselves between fronts and weak high pressure takes over our weather. There will be plenty of sunshine, and temperatures will be in the lower to middle 80s, a shade warmer than normal, but not as warm as it was the last couple of days. Tomorrow night will feature partly cloudy skies and more patchy fog.

Sunday, the next front approaches the region and the chance for showers and storms returns to the forecast. Some of the storms on Sunday could be on the strong side, but severe weather is not expected. Any storm that does become strong will contain gusty winds and small hail. Overall, the intensity of the storms will not be what it was today.

With some extra cloud cover, temperatures Sunday will be a shade cooler than they will be Saturday, with highs hovering around the 80-degree mark.

As we go into the next traditional work week, chances for showers and storms will stick around, and temperatures will cool off to below-normal levels for the first time in a while.
