Strong Storms This Evening; Stormy Pattern Keeps on Giving

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The day will start off tepid as some fog dissipates to reveal partly sunny skies, but will turn into a stormy mess in the evening and early nighttime hours. Damaging winds and heavy rain that may cause flooding concerns will be the main issues in play. Storms will start forming around 6 PM and continue through midnight before fully dissipating. However, chances for rain start as early as 3 PM as some showers may come before the storms. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

Tomorrow will be a pretty similar day to today with a decent start followed by a stormy afternoon and evening with severe potential. Damaging winds and flooding continue to be in play as sunshine will help with atmospheric instability once again. Over the next 48 hours, expect around a half inch of rain in most places with some isolated patches of the region getting more than that from downpours associated with stronger thunderstorms. The entire area will be prone to severe weather as seen below:

Friday and Saturday will be mostly rainy and stormy as a cold front approaches from the Midwest and passes through our area. Storms will be a little weaker as the sunshine won’t be as prominent in the morning, though we could see some stronger weather still. However, we are trending towards more typical summer storms ahead of the cold front. Sunday and the start of next week will continue this stormy pattern, though chances of rainfall diminish to scattered showers and thunderstorms for the first half of next week.
