Severe Weather Possible; Incoming Cooldown

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Storms and showers are already moving through the region this morning, but will become more widespread in the next few hours before scattering off once again later this afternoon. These widespread storms will bring some decent to heavy rain later this morning, but won’t be as strong as storms later in the afternoon. Most storms will be more akin to typical spring storms, but a few may become severe. This is dependent on how much sun gets into the area in between thunderstorms and showers, but severe weather will be possible.

The most likely time for severe weather will be in the afternoon when showers and storms become scattered once again. If storms do become severe, damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour are the main concern. Hail is also in play, and an isolated brief spin-up cannot be ruled out. Tornadic activity is not likely, but the chances are not zero either. Make sure to stay weather aware through the day in case your area is in the path of a strong or severe thunderstorm. These will last through the evening before weakening and dwindling overnight. Here’s the latest from Meteorologist Christian Boteler:

After tonight, showers will linger but storms will not be present. Thursday’s morning commute will feature some showers before conditions dry up for the rest of the day. Temperatures will also cool down by around 10-15 degrees between Wednesday and Thursday afternoon thanks to the cold front that will push through later today. Showers will continue passing by on Friday and Saturday as multiple clusters of showers and storms move through the eastern states. Both days will feature scattered showers with lighter rain, so an umbrella will be sufficient for the day.

The rain will dry up on Sunday, which will make it the driest day of the week by default. Patchy frost is expected during the morning, which means you should have a plan for any sensitive plants and should wear layers during the morning. After the morning frost, temperatures get into the mid-50s that afternoon. Rain will come back next week in the form of scattered showers and possible storms starting on Monday and extending into Tuesday. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
