The radar is active again today as showers and storms are rolling through the area this afternoon.

So far rainfall totals have been high in some spots and several parts of the area have been under Flash Flood Warnings at times today.

The system that is producing all this rain is an upper-level disturbance that is pulling a lot of moisture into the area from the Atlantic. It’s easy to see on the Futurecast model as it spins just off to our southwest.

The system is producing some storms around the region and some of them will be on the strong side. If any of the storms are severe, damaging winds are the main threat.

But as it has been since yesterday, the main threat is for flooding rains. Predicted rainfall totals do not look especially heavy. But with several days of rain chances, flooding over the long term is a possibility.

By this weekend, the persistent pattern finally begins to break down and after one more shot of showers and storms, the weather calms down a bit.

Sunday looks like it will be a nice day, by far the better of the two weekend days, with only small chances for showers and storms. Temperatures throughout the extended forecast will be almost as consistent as the rain chances, Highs will generally be in the 70s, with Thursday and Friday near 80 degrees. Lows will be in the 50s to near 60 degrees.
