Showers are once again filling up the radar today around the region. The good news is that today’s activity is not as strong as what we saw yesterday. Still, gusty winds and perhaps even small hail are possibilities with some of the storms.
The rain is also piling up, with some areas approaching and even exceeding 4″ of total rainfall over the last 72 hours.
Because of the rain that we’re seeing today combined with the wet soils with the rain from the last few days, there is a Flood Watch in effect until 10 p.m. tonight from the eastern and northern parts of the area.
While some of the storms today will be on the strong side, later this week we’ll see an even better chance for severe weather as the atmosphere becomes more unstable.
The main convective threat for our area, as it usually is in our area, is damaging winds with large hail also being a threat.
But the main overall threat for us is going to be the chances for more flooding. Rain totals going forward will not be super high, but similar to the current situation, any rain that falls over the next few days could lead to issues.
The good news is that the rain chances will be going down as we go through the weekend, giving us a chance to dry out a bit.
