Storms Ending Tonight; More Severe Potential Tuesday With Cooler Temperatures Late Week

We had some severe weather today across parts of West Virginia, but for the most part, it missed our area of Southern West Virginia. The same will likely be said tomorrow as the bulk of the severe weather threat will be across Southern Virginia into North Carolina. Damaging winds appears to be the main threat there, but a few thunderstorms could still occur across our area. No washout is expected and most people will remain dry for most of the day.

Once we head into Tuesday, some heavy thunderstorms are possible across our area, including the potential for severe weather. The SPC (Storm Prediction Center) has the majority of our area under a Slight Risk (Level 2/5) for Tuesday, with damaging winds appearing to be the main threat yet again. Most people could see rain on Tuesday, the heaviest looks to fall along and south of I-64.

Here is a look at the European model over the 7 days with rainfall totals. Quite a bit of rainfall again south of I-64 across the southern coalfields. Most people should get over an inch, with most of this falling on Tuesday. Parts of the Greenbrier Valley look to be some of the area that sees the least amounts of rain in our area

Taking a  look at that full 7 day forecast; an 80% chance of rain on Tuesday with the severe potential existing, turns into drier and cooler weather heading into late week as temperatures will drop to below our average high around 81!
