Wonderful weather to end the holiday weekend

Tomorrow will be another nice day, with more abundant sunshine and mild temperatures. Readings will be on the rise with the flow turning around to the south. Highs will wind up in the lower 80s.

Tomorrow night will be another nice night, with lows in the lower 60s, once again a shade warmer than they’ll be tonight. Wednesday will be a carbon copy of tomorrow, with temperatures rising by another degree or so.

The next chance for showers and storms will be Thursday as a front will approach from the northwest. The front will be attached to a low that will pass to our north.

As is usually the case, there will be plenty of moisture for the front to work with, so there will be concerns for flooding with the storms, as they could drop heavy amounts of rain. Areas to the northwest of the spine of the Appalachians have a greater chance for flash flooding than locations in the Greenbrier Valley and Pocahontas County.

For now, it appears that other types of severe weather will not be as much of a concern as it was last Friday. As for the timing, the showers and storms should be gone in time for the Friday night football games. Over the next day or two, we’ll get a better idea regarding the timing and intensity. Stay tuned.

After the front is gone, the weather will dry out, but the drier weather is short-lived as another system will be hard on the heels of the first. Rain chances during the weekend will be spottier but will still be present.

We finally dry out next Monday. Temperature-wise, despite the presence of the fronts, we don’t see any big swings in the temperatures over the next seven days. Highs will be in the 80s at the end of the forecast, just like they will be at the beginning. Lows will be in the lower 60s across the board.
