Storms Continue; Hot and Humid Start Next Week

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): As the night continues on, more thunderstorms and showers will show up. The line is coming from our north and it has not had any severe warnings associated with it recently. However, it can still bring heavy rain and gusty winds, so please stay weather aware as we continue to monitor the line coming through. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has those details and the full extended forecast below:

Monday will bring more storms, though much more scattered and weaker than today. These will primarily pop in the afternoon and evening as the daytime heating promotes storm development. Tuesday and Wednesday will have a slight chance of a pop-up storm, though the main concern will be the brutal heat and humidity. A heat dome is setting up in the southeast, bringing temperatures to above 100° in some places. For our region, we’ll see temperatures around the 90° mark with heat indices even higher due to humidity. Make sure you have plenty of water, sunscreen, and listen to your body when you’re outside. Here’s a look at the jet stream pattern, which shows that large dark red area, or the heat dome:

Relief is coming, though it will come on the back of a strong cold front moving through the region on Thursday. The front will bring stronger storms with gusty winds and heavy rain, some of which may become severe. You’ll want to have your StormWatch app and other ways to receive alerts ready for that day. It will move through and bring wonderful temperatures for Friday into the weekend despite some rain chances. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
