WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): This morning is starting with some scattered showers in the northern half of the viewing area. These showers are light, but you’ll need an umbrella or rain jacket if you want to stay dry. These showers will pop in and out this morning ad afternoon, only dissipating after sunset. Most places will end up with less than a tenth of an inch of rain today, but more will fall as the week continues.
Tomorrow, more scattered showers are expected during the day. However, temperatures will warm up by around 10 degrees between today and tomorrow. With this warm up, the atmosphere will be able to hold more water vapor. This would mean we have a slightly lower chance for scattered showers during the day. Not everyone will be affected by showers either today or tomorrow due to the scattered nature of these showers. Still, having an umbrella around is best practice during the first half of the week.
As the week continues on, a cold front will approach the region on Wednesday. This front will bring widespread showers and storms into the region, kicking off the second half of the work week on a more active note. Rainfall will start to get a bit heavier, though storms are trending to be on the weaker side this time around. These showers will last through the afternoon and evening as the low-pressure system sweeps through the eastern states. Storms are likely to stay sub-severe as of now, but we will keep an eye on this front as the week continues. Showers will eventually dissipate late at night.
Thursday will be another day of scattered showers moving in and out of the area. The next round of widespread showers is still approaching at this point, so we are not expecting as much coverage as either Wednesday or Friday. Even then, chances for scattered showers are there, so make sure to stay dry. Speaking of Friday, we end the work week with another line of showers and possibly thunderstorms. This line will bring moderate rainfall and weaker storms similar to Wednesday.
The weekend will only continue the mild and rainy pattern. Temperatures inch towards 80 degrees on Saturday, but showers will be in and out of the forecast once again. It will feel great, but you’ll still need the umbrella on hand if you’re going anywhere. Another cold front will move through on Sunday, bringing widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms for Easter.
