WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Today will be a significant day in our severe weather season as multiple rounds of severe weather make their way through the region. The main concerns will be in the afternoon and late night tonight. Damaging winds, large hail, flooding, and tornadoes are all in play for these storms. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the full forecast:
The morning will be less eventful, though we may see some isolated showers and storms ahead of the main lines of severe weather coming later today. The storms are poised to start from 2 to 3 PM this afternoon and last through the early evening hours. We’ll get a brief break, possibly with some peaks of sun, before another round of severe storms comes through in the late night hours. The second round will be stronger than the first, with winds up to 80 MPH and large hail in play. Flooding is also a concern as isolated downpours will affect the area. As storms are poised to come through the area, here’s a few reminders to keep in mind:
We won’t be the only area effected either. Just to our west, Kentucky and its neighbors are in the moderate category. This means severe weather will be widespread and intense. We will be keeping an eye out there to see what intensity their storms reach and how much they’ll weaken before reaching our area. If you have family within this area, I highly suggest contacting them and making sure they are aware and safe. Here’s the full severe weather outlook for the continental United States:
The storms will weaken into the morning hours before passing through, leaving us with partly sunny skies for the second half of the day Saturday. The nice weather will continue into Sunday and Monday with mostly sunny skies and temperatures staying in the mid-70s during the nice break. Tuesday morning will start nice, but showers in the afternoon will soak us once again as a precursor to storms on Wednesday. These storms show potential for another severe weather day, which we will continue to keep an eye on as the situation develops. Thursday will see lingering showers before we get another break from the storm. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
