WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Temperatures have dropped into the 50s this morning, which is an early taste of fall. Light jackets are warranted for the morning commute through the late morning hours. Temperatures rise into the 70s this afternoon, which will allow jackets to be shed. Conditions will remain mostly sunny through the entire day. Outdoor activities will go on without any sort of roadblock, which is much-needed after August’s rainy start. Today is just the start of nicer days ahead. Tuesday and Wednesday continue the wonderful conditions. Tomorrow morning will be another chilly one, but high temperatures will rise a few degrees compared to today. Wednesday will bring us back to more summer-like temperatures as areas break 80 degrees for the first time in a few days. Looking towards the sky, sunny skies will last all day long on Tuesday while cloud cover gradually increases on Wednesday. Thankfully, Wednesday is projecting to stay dry. However, that trend does not last into Thursday.
Rain returns to the forecast after a few days of dry weather. Scattered thunderstorms are expected throughout the day on Thursday, peaking in the afternoon and evening hours. Storms are trending to remain weaker and lighter, which gives us a better scenario for the latter half of the week. Storms will eventually dissipate overnight, but they will not completely fade. Despite a severe weather threat not showing, you will need to be aware of thunder and lightning in these storms.
Lingering showers and storms will slowly fade on Friday. This remaining rainfall will likely be the last we see through the 7-Day Forecast. The weekend is trending in the right direction as skies stay mostly sunny and temperatures remain in the lower 80s. If you have weekend plans, they are trending to go off without a hitch.
