WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The heat is continuing to plague the area despite the wonderfully sunny skies. Temperatures will reach into the low 90s across the region once again, which may break some records. Beckley’s record for the 24th of June is 90 degrees, which is most likely to be broken by a degree to two today. The western section of the region is under a Heat Advisory until Wednesday at 8 PM and could be extended into Thursday if storms cannot cool us off tomorrow. Meteorologist Christian Boteler takes a dive into the heat and upcoming weather:
Tomorrow will be the start of an active weather pattern coming to the region. Though the chances are slight, weakening high pressure and lingering heat and moisture will potentially develop into stronger thunderstorms across the region. Our southern counties and northern Pocahontas are currently in a “marginal” severe weather risk tomorrow, meaning isolated severe thunderstorms are expected across the region. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if areas outside of the dark green also got a stronger thunderstorms or two. Here’s the severe weather outlook for our region:

Chances of thunderstorms will continue through the rest of the week and even into next week. Thursday’s chances are lower again as isolated storms pop up due to the heat and moisture. Friday and through the weekend, chances will increase as a disturbance will slowly move just above us, bringing more showers and storms across the area. Storms will have some severe potential across this period with damaging winds being the main concern. We will be keeping an eye on the situation, especially this weekend as a front passes us to the north. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
