WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): While the first half of today will be nice and warm, storms will start to develop in the evening hours and bring severe weather to the region once again. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
The main concern for today’s severe weather will be damaging winds, with possibilities of hail and ponding of water. The storms will start to develop early in the evening, but the strongest stuff will be after the sun sets. Tomorrow has a similar outlook with another day of possible severe weather, though the storms will be slightly weaker and more scattered across the region earlier in the day. The storms should be out of the region late morning and stay away for a majority of the day. Here’s the severe weather outlook for Thursday:
The weekend will continue the rainy weather as another low-pressure system comes through the area. We also continue the severe weather threat, though the storms will be on par with Friday rather than Thursday. Sunday further continues the rainy trend with a few more storms and showers across the region from the low-pressure system. The reason the rain lingers for longer than previously forecasted is due to high pressure missing us to the north. This results in a blocking signature, not allowing the low pressure to move much further. Below is a visualization of the blocking signature.

The low pressure system will finally be able to move away from the area at the start of next week, but showers and an isolated storm or two will stick around Monday and Tuesday. Rain chances will be lower than the weekend and storms that do develop are not anticipated to be severe. We finally see a drier trend on Wednesday as the showers dissipate. Despite the chances of rain to start the week, there will be plenty of breaks from the rain and partly sunny skies will result. Make sure to keep your rain gear handy for the next week or so as we continue the rainy and stormy trend. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
