This afternoon, showers are possible, and combined with the cloud cover, the region is cool for the season. Temperatures are in the lower 60s everywhere except for the highest elevation areas.
The radar continues to be filled with rain, and while the chances for thunder are small, there could be a rumble or two later today and into tonight.
The rain chances will be with us for a while, and so will the chances for thunder. Some of the storms will be on the heavy side at times.
The heaviest rain will be in the Greenbrier Valley, where more than 2″ will fall over the next 48 hours in some parts of Greenbrier and Pocahontas Counties. With that in mind, the National Weather Service has placed this area in the Slight risk category for excessive rainfall. We’ll monitor the rivers, creeks, and streams for flooding later this week.
The rain chances will continue throughout the forecast but will go down a bit later on in the week. Some of the storms on Friday could be on the strong side, but severe weather is not expected. For now, the weekend looks fine, with mild temperatures, a mix of sun and clouds and scattered showers and storms.
