WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): While the morning commute remains uneventful, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will start trickling in this afternoon and evening. Severe weather will be to our west for today, and these scattered showers will move along overnight. Wednesday morning will be calm and cloudy, and temperatures will be on the milder side once again. However, lots of change is coming over the next few days, including severe weather and cold temperatures making their return to the forecast. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
A cold front will be moving into our area Wednesday evening, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms with it. The atmosphere will be instable and wind shear becomes strong enough to cause severe thunderstorms across the entire region. While Saturday’s threat was ultimately limited, dew points will not be low enough to do the same this time around. The main concerns for tomorrow night’s severe weather will be damaging wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour and heavy rainfall. However, isolated pockets of hail and an isolated spin-up cannot be ruled out. Stay weather aware as the severe threat moves in tomorrow evening and overnight.

The cold front will pass over our region early Thursday morning, dropping temperatures significantly. Some areas may see a 20 degree drop between Wednesday Evening and Thursday morning. Below-freezing temperatures are possible as well, indicating a switch from rain to a wintry mix of rain and snow early in the morning. Temperatures will get back into the 40s Thursday afternoon, and accumulation will be little to none. The showers finally leave Thursday afternoon, bringing an end to the active weather for this week.
Friday and Saturday will be calmer and slightly cooler than recent days. It won’t be as cold as Thursday, but temperatures will top out in the lower 60s, which is still about 10 degrees lower than recent days. Friday will be the best of days this week thanks to seasonable temperatures and mostly sunny skies. Saturday will be another great day as the only change will be some increasing cloud cover.
However, the party ends Sunday evening thanks to another cold front moving through, bringing showers and storms once again. These will linger through Monday morning of next week, and cooling temperatures may bring more wintry mix into the equation. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
