Princeton Community Hospitals reports increase in local respiratory illness cases

Princeton, WV (WOAY)- Princeton Community Hospital reports a spike in respiratory illness cases.

Recently, influenza type A has been the most prevalent among patients.

According to a PCH press release, lab reports indicate a 29.1% positivity rate for type A flu from January 26-29, marking a sharp increase from 22.2% the week before.

COVID-19 rates have declined, and no influenza type B cases have been detected recently.

However, RSV is still an issue, with a 4.2% positivity rate this week.

PCH and WVU Medicine advise community members to stay healthy by getting vaccinated, washing their hands regularly, and seeking medical care if they are not feeling well, particularly for high-risk individuals.

If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, contact your primary care physician for guidance on testing and treatment.
