Fayette County man arrested for alleged child abuse

Mount Hope, WV (WOAY) – A Fayette County man is in custody for allegedly injuring an infant left in his care.

18-year-old Charles Samuel Taylor of Mount Hope, WV, is charged with felony child abuse by a parent or guardian causing serious bodily injury.

According to court documents, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, multiple law enforcement agencies began investigating a report of an infant who had been injured while left in the care of the father, identified as Charles Samuel Taylor.

According to the criminal complaint, the child had scratches and bruises and a lump on the head. After further examination, the infant was diagnosed with a skull fracture and brain bleeding.

Law enforcement questioned the father, who initially denied any knowledge of injury to the child. Taylor later told officers that he dropped the child on her head.

Charles Samuel Taylor is currently housed in the Southern Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash only bond.
