A cold front is currently cruising through the Midwest to the southeast. This system will continue to move slowly as the day passes, only reaching our area tomorrow morning. Showers and storms will begin in the western half of the viewing area right before or during the morning commute. The front will begin to pass through the region tomorrow afternoon, which allows activity to increase across the region. Storms and showers will remain through the overnight hours as the front slowly passes by. Despite this being a cold front, temperatures will not change too much.
What the front does not bring in cool air, it makes up for in the form of moisture. Heavy showers and storms are expected through the entire day. Plenty of moisture is in the atmosphere, which will only fuel potential rainfall further. Localized flooding will be the main concern tomorrow, especially in areas that experience repeat downpours. The Weather Prediction Center has highlighted the western half of the viewing areas as an area vulnerable to excessive rainfall. Storms will end up heavy, but should remain sub-severe through. Rainfall will lighten up as the night goes on, but will still be an issue for some.
Despite the front passing through, showers and storms remain in the forecast on Friday. Most activity will occur in the morning and early afternoon, but a couple of stragglers are possible later in the day. Storms will stay a bit lighter and weaker than Thursday. Another round of showers and storms will impact the region on Saturday, but these remain a bit spottier. This activity remains through the weekend before dry weather finally returns on Monday.
