It’s been a wonderful afternoon around the region with plenty of blue skies and nice temperatures.
Readings have been warming up very gradually, and the trend that has been evident during the daytime hours will be evident at night as well.
Lows tonight will drop into the upper 40s in most areas, with lower 50s in some spots as well. Skies will be clear or mostly clear, a good night for stargazing as the Moon is in a waning gibbous stage.
Tomorrow will be another nice day, and again it will be slightly warmer, with highs in the mid to upper 70s. The end of the week looks similar to tonight and tomorrow, and highs will continue to climb a bit, eventually pushing the 80-degree mark by the end of the weekend. Over the next few days, a weak middle-level disturbance will push to the east of the region, and it could trigger a few showers in North Carolina and Virginia on Friday.
Travelers going in that direction could run into an isolated shower or two, but we should stay dry for our Fabulous Football Friday games, unless the game is in one of those areas. Great weather is also in the forecast for the Backyard Brawl game between West Virginia and Pitt on Saturday.
Later in the extended forecast, another weak disturbance will push into the region and will give us a small chance for showers on Monday and into early Tuesday as well. With the extra cloud cover, temperatures will drop, but not by much. After the small chance for rain ends, it will warm back up quickly.
In fact, the 6-to-10-day temperature outlook from the Climate Prediction Center calls for almost the entire Lower 48 to see above-normal temperatures. The only area near or slightly below normal in the forecast is a small part of North Carolina near the Outer Banks up to the Delmarva Peninsula.
