Mostly Dry Sunday; Wintry Weather Likely Monday

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Today has been beautiful with mostly sunny skies and temperatures breaking the 60-degree mark. However, this will be the peak of our weather for a little while thanks to a changing weather pattern and persisting rain. Sunday starts with a chance of isolated showers moving through, but these will be quick-hitters. Any rainfall will be lighter and will dissipate in the afternoon. After the showers leave, skies will remain partly sunny and temperatures will stay cooler than today. The next week of weather will be active once again, starting off on a wintry note. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

The system that has been trending for Monday is still likely to bring us a mix of rain, snow, and ice. While our western counties and the southern coalfields stay rainy, the Greenbrier Valley and high country will likely see more snow and ice. Driving conditions in the eastern portion of our region will likely deteriorate through the day due to icy conditions. Snow and ice accumulation will be little to none, but will make roads slick. As for the western counties, they may see a glaze of ice at worst.

After this system passes through, more rain comes in behind it. Our area will be between drier and wetter weather as a ridge of warmer air moves in, which may push the line of showers north enough to miss us. Even if rain does not fall everywhere, ice and snow will not last long this time. Rain showers are a continuing possibility from Tuesday and through the rest of the week.

The first line of showers lasts through Wednesday, before being pushes to the northeast. However, a front forms behind it, which could scrape by us on Thursday and early Friday. After that front passes, we get a brief period of calmer weather before another round of rain develops next weekend. The signal is there for showers and storms next weekend, but we are keeping an eye on it for any changes. All while this is going on, temperatures will rise into the 70s by the end of the week!
