More showers, cool temperatures this week

It’s been a mostly sunny, but cool and breezy afternoon around the region. Temperatures are actually warmer now than they were 24 hours ago at this time.
That’s because when Meteorologist Tanner Beam was tracking the weather at 6 p.m. Sunday, the cold air associated with yesterday’s front was invading the area. The high on Sunday was set early in the day, and by the time that we got to this morning, temperatures were cold enough to have some of the rain change over to snow at Snowshoe!
At this time yesterday, we were also seeing showers and storms roll through the area. That’s not the case today, of course, but there will be a few showers around tomorrow. We’ll start with clear skies, and then the skies will cloud up, and the chance for showers returns to the forecast.
As you can see by the graphic above, chances are not as high, the showers are not as intense, and the amount of rain is not what it was yesterday, but it is there. After dropping into the upper 30s and lower 40s tonight, highs tomorrow will rise to right around 60 degrees. We’ll see the chance for showers last into Wednesday morning, before ending from west to east.
Rain totals with this next front will be low…
…and so will the temperatures behind it. Highs and lows will be 5 to 10 degrees below the averages on Thursday and Friday. Frost and freeze conditions are likely throughout the entire area. But it will at least be rain-free for our Fabulous Football Friday, we’ll need the jackets and sweatshirts for the later parts of the games. A weak front comes into the region from the southwest, possibly giving us some showers beginning late Saturday and lasting through Sunday. Similar to the front that comes through tomorrow, and rain totals should be light.
