Princeton, WV (WOAY)- A Mercer County man is facing serious charges after a domestic dispute.
According to a criminal complaint, on Friday, May 23, local authorities responded to a call at a residence on Ball Street in Princeton regarding a complaint of property destruction.
Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the caller, Summer Bell, who told police that her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Agnew, had thrown her belongings into the yard, causing significant damage.
Police observed a large number of items scattered in the yard, including clothing, an Acer laptop, a 75-inch LG television, and a queen-size bed and mattress.
Several of the items had visible ATV tire marks, suggesting they had been deliberately run over.
The estimated total in damages was $4,650.
Later that same day, Bell contacted authorities again to report an additional, more disturbing incident.
She informed officers that she had suffered a miscarriage in July 2023 and had preserved the remains of the child in a sealed biohazard container, kept inside a larger, permanently sealed box.
Bell said she made Agnew aware of the container and its contents when she moved in.
During the destruction of her property, the container with the remains was also thrown into the yard.
Authorities say the ATV struck it, breaking open the outer container and exposing the contents inside.
Bell also recounted that she and Agnew had recently broken up, reportedly because he claimed she “smoked too much.”
She described a prior incident on or around May 10, when the two were riding the ATV and Agnew allegedly flipped the vehicle in a fit of rage.
That same day, Bell said Agnew screamed profanities at her and attempted to force her to hit him.
A domestic violence petition was filed at the time of the incident. Agnew was later served at the Princeton Police Department, where he was taken into custody.
Agnew now faces charges of felony destruction of property and disinterment or displacement of a dead body.
