WOAY – Marshall men’s basketball had three players honored Monday as Conference USA announced its all-conference teams from the 2017-18 season.
Junior Jon Elmore was named to the First Team for a second straight season. The Charleston, West Virginia native was selected Player of the Week three times during the regular season, leading the conference in points and assists the last two years. C.J. Burks was named to the Second Team after averaging 21 points per game, earning Player of the Week honors twice. In addition Ajdin Penava was selected to both the Third Team and the All-Defensive Team. He led the nation with 124 blocked shots.
Marshall awaits the winner of the UTSA & UTEP Thursday night in the Conference USA Tournament semifinals.
In women’s basketball, junior Shayna Gore was named to the Second Team for a second straight season. She was second in Conference USA in scoring and three-pointers per game, and is Marshall’s all-time leader in three-pointers made. The Thundering Herd finished the season 9-20 overall, 3-13 in league play.
