WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The start of April has been warm, and we’ll be at or over 80° on Saturday! However, this warmth will be short lived as winter makes its final gambit. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
The weather regime will change from a Pacific Ridge to a Greenland High, changing our temperatures from slightly above average to slightly below average. In addition, the strong cold front on Sunday will make this cooldown more drastic. Overall, expect temperatures in the 40s and 50s for highs while we dip into the 20s overnight for the first half of next week.
The reason we stay cooler during the Greenland High regime is due to cold air being trapped in the eastern United States by high pressure in Greenland. With the high pressure settling in Greenland for the 2nd week of April, make sure you’ve got your winter gear ready for one more round of late winter conditions.
