LIV Tournament Draws Pro Golfers To The Greenbrier

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): White Sulphur Springs was hopping last weekend as big pro golfers competed at the Greenbrier for the LIV Tournament.

Hundreds of volunteers worked to help the tournament efficiently. A kid’s village had plenty of fun and games to keep the little ones occupied and our own Chief Meteorologist Chad Merrill got a chance to give his insight into the golf match at the media booth! Merrill also scored a selfie with Professional Golfer Dustin Johnson who shot a seven under for the 3-day tournament.

Saturday’s tournament leader, John Rahm, gave The Greenbrier all accolades after the second day of the tournament. “Fantastic golf course. They could make this course very challenging if they wanted to. It’s a very fun, beautiful part of the country,” Rahm said in a media interview Saturday.

About 0.28″ of rain in a short time triggered ponding on the greens Friday and ultimately an hour rain delay. A LIV Golf “Severe Weather Watch” was issued for the potential of storms on Sunday, but only a few drops fell and lightning was not observed in proximity to the course.

The Frog X Parachute Team flew in fifteen minutes before each opening round.

LIV Golf continues its tournaments in Chicago and Dallas next month.
