We are seeing plenty of clouds around the area, but the showers are scattered and mostly over the Greenbrier Valley and, to a lesser extent, the southern coalfields. Any showers that are on the radar around our area are very light. Much heavier rain is falling over Virginia as a low-pressure center slowly moves onshore. Flooding rains and wind damage have both been reported along the beaches there, and the rain will be heavy along the I-95 corridor and along I-64 between the I-81 split and Richmond.

Any showers that are falling over the state will fade quickly in the next couple of hours, and we’ll be left with clouds and mild temperatures overnight. Most areas will drop into the middle 50s, close to the normal.
Tomorrow, the low over Virginia will continue to spin some moisture towards the area. There will be a small chance for showers in the same areas that are most likely to see rain today.

Highs will be held in check by the cloud cover and will top out in the mid-70s in most areas.

As the day goes on, the chances for rain diminish somewhat, and the skies begin to clear. Tomorrow night will be mostly clear, but not cool, as temperatures are once again in the mid-50s.
Beginning Thursday and lasting through the weekend, mild weather will be in the forecast, especially when it comes to the highs. We’ll top out in the 80s for three days running, ending Saturday. It looks like great weather for our Fabulous Friday Football games! By Sunday, the clouds will increase as another system begins to form in the Central U.S. That low moves to our north ads drags a cool front through the area on Monday, but the front has very little moisture to work with, so any rain that does fall won’t amount to much, and rain chances are small (I went with 20% on both Monday and Tuesday).

We definitely need the rain, but it looks like we’ll have to wait a while before we get any appreciable rain around the area.
