WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Morning temperatures are a good amount cooler than yesterday, sitting in the lower 60s and even the upper 50s in some places. A light jacket could be useful for the morning commute, but you will want to shed it later in the day if you wear one. Patchy fog may develop in the usual spots this morning, mainly in the valleys across our region. Any lingering fog dissipates around 10 AM per usual. Skies will remain partly sunny through the day, but high pressure will keep us dry. High pressure will weaken tomorrow, opening the door for isolated showers during the late afternoon and evening hours. The morning will stay dry and partly sunny before rain returns, so you will have a few hours to get things done outside if necessary. Showers will remain isolated through the rest of the day, which means not everyone will be affected. An umbrella or rain jacket is a good thing to have if you are venturing out, even if the rain ends up missing your locale.
Showers will continue throughout the weekend despite the lack of an incoming major disturbance. Rainy activity will peak in the afternoon before mostly fading overnight on both Saturday and Sunday. The reason for this continuing scattered development is the strong front that passed through on Tuesday. That cold front is becoming stationary over the Carolinas, which will hold just enough influence over our area. A few rumbles of thunder are also possible, but activity will be much weaker and lighter than what we saw on Tuesday. The front starts to slink away on Sunday, which is why chances are slightly lower.
Next week will bring more showers and storms into the region. Monday will be similar to the weekend with isolated showers and a few rumbles developing once again. However, we are watching a new potential cold front for a Tuesday arrival. A low-pressure system will move through the northeastern states and Canada, which may drag the cold front directly through our area.
