UPDATED 4:10 PM:

A strong cold front will push through the area today, bringing scattered showers and gusty winds back to southern West Virginia. Winds could gust up to 30-35 MPH by early this evening.

A major temperature drop will accompany as well. Temperatures will reach the 60s this afternoon before falling nearly 30 degrees by 7 PM this evening.

Thursday will start off mainly dry before snow showers take over by the afternoon hours. With temperatures close to freezing and the ground temperatures still warm, a lot of melting will take place at first. However, a few intense snow squalls may quickly reduce visibility. Check out the future radar by early tomorrow afternoon.

Snow will continue into the overnight hours Thursday night into early Friday morning, and this will be the prime hours for snowfall to start accumulating across the area. With that being said, school alterations and slick roads will be likely Friday morning.

While we are not talking a significant snow storm for a large majority of the viewing area, a general 2-4″ of snow will be common for many. That will be enough to cause sloppy travel, especially early Friday. 8-10″+ of snow will be common across western Pocahontas and western Greenbrier county. Several inches of snowfall will fall across eastern Nicholas county.

With that being said, the National Weather Service has issued * Winter Weather Advisories* and *Winter Storm Warnings* across a large chunk of the area.

Additional Snow showers and flurries will be likely later Friday afternoon-Friday night with possibly some rain showers mixing in. The highest elevations will add to their snowfall totals throughout Friday. Additional light accumulations will be possible for the rest of the area during this time, but as mentioned, Thursday night will be the best chance for accumulations.

With snow on the ground Friday morning, temperatures will be very cold! Check out the projected wind chills just in time for the Friday morning commute…

Needless to say, Friday will be downright cold, especially for November standards.

Improvement in temperatures will be likely by the weekend with dry weather coming back to the area. Keep checking back for updates.
