FEMA shares information about rebuilding homes impacted by winter flooding

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided over $4 billion to Region 3 states and the District of Columbia for costs related to saving lives and protecting communities from COVID-19.

Charleston, WV (WOAY) – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is giving residents who had their homes damaged in February by flooding an opportunity to learn how to build their home back better.

Residents in Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Wayne, and Wyoming counties who had their homes damaged by winter flooding between February 15 – 18, 2025 can speak with a FEMA mitigation specialist about rebuilding.

FEMA mitigation specialists can provide resources and educate residents on safe clean-up procedures and mitigation actions to reduce the effects of future events. The FEMA Specialists can also speak with residents about programs that are available to homeowners and explain the building and permitting process and provide information on flood insurance and risk reduction techniques.
