Fayette County Commission Plateau seat to be contested in November election

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – The race for the Fayette County Commission’s Plateau District will be contested this November. The seat opened following the tragic passing of Commissioner Greg Fernett in May.

Alison Rosiek-Ibarra officially launched her campaign in an announcement today. She will hold a campaign launch event on the Fayette County Courthouse lawn on July 1 at 5:30 p.m.

According to the West Virginia Secretary of State’s office, she is running as an independent.

My campaign is centered on listening first, being accessible to residents, and working collaboratively to help Fayette County move forward. Throughout this campaign, I plan to spend as much time as possible meeting with residents, local organizations, and community leaders so I can build my platform around the needs and priorities of the people of Fayette County,” she said in a statement.

Rosiek-Ibarra is challenging local businessman and Republican Chuck Miller, who was appointed to the seat following Fernett’s passing. He owns Tee Time and Starlite in Oak Hill.

“I’m a citizen of the county and a taxpayer of that county, just like everybody else is. I’m here to do the job, get it done, and make the county a better and safer place to be,” Miller said in an interview shortly after his appointment.

Barry Crist is running unopposed for the New Haven District as a Republican.
