WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): A few lingering showers will move in and out of the region this morning through the early afternoon. Despite the rain, it will be a much calmer day compared to the last week or so. Showers will stay lighter and brief before leaving this afternoon. After the rain leaves, conditions will remain dry and calm over the next day or so. High water remains in some areas, but will continue to recede over the next two days. Wednesday will be a great day for any outdoor activities. Temperatures peak in the lower 80s and skies stay mostly sunny through the day. Dry conditions will be short-lived as a cold front approaches the region early Thursday morning. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the latest details:
Rain chances begin Wednesday night, remaining scattered until the front gets closer Thursday morning and afternoon. Thunderstorms and showers become widespread through the day, but they will remain less intense than previous rounds. Lower amounts of available energy and wind shear during the day will keep storms from reaching severe status. A good amount of moisture is available, but precipitable water is also lower than last week. Localized flooding is the main concern due to the mass amounts of rain we got through the last week or so.
This front will pass over our region Thursday afternoon, but activity will linger behind it for a couple of days. The upper-level trough will allow more scattered showers and storms to form through Friday and some of the weekend. Chances will be lower, but they hover around 30-40% over the next couple of days. Thankfully, storms will remain on the weaker side and rainfall should remain manageable for most. If you have weekend plans, especially on Saturday, it is a good idea to stay weather aware and have an indoor plan in case thunderstorms develop over your region.

Rain chances dwindle to near zero on Sunday, although a stray shower or two is possible to end the weekend. This persistent trough will eventually move out of the region, resulting in a couple of things. First, Monday is trending to be absolutely gorgeous. Temperatures peak in the upper 70s while humidity remains lower than usual. Rain chances are also eliminated, ensuring beautiful conditions to supplement the wonderful temperatures. The beginning of next week is shaping up to be a prime period for outdoor activity. We are not out of the active pattern yet, but the worst of it has passed. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
