Athens, WV (WOAY)- Concord University’s “CU Free” program is still going strong 5 years after its inception.
CU Free is a financial aid tool for incoming freshmen, and current and transfer students.
The program allows qualifying students to earn a four-year degree without paying for tuition out of pocket.
Pell grant-eligible students receive last-dollar financial assistance to cover base tuition costs.
Chief enrollment management officer, Tammy Brown, states that since the program’s inception, CU Free has awarded 88 students over 4,000 dollars a year depending on the student’s financial aid.
The program automatically renews for four continuous years for first-time freshmen.
Transfer students can renew for up to eight semesters depending on transfer credits.
To be considered eligible for the program students must:
- Be a Pell Grant-eligible
- a West Virginia resident eligible for WV Higher Education Grant
- Have a GPA of at least 3.0, if an incoming freshman
- Have a GPA of at least 2.75, transfer student
- Have filed their FAFSA before April 15
- Be enrolled full-time at Concord.
