Athens, WV (WOAY)-It’s First-Gen Week at Concord University, part of a national celebration honoring the resilience and success of first-generation students, faculty, and staff.
Nearly half of Concord’s student body identifies as First-Gen, making this week a special tribute to their determination and impact on campus.
The celebration kicks off Monday, November 3, with a Rubber Duckie Hunt and Resource Table on the Student Center’s ground floor, running through Wednesday, November 5.
On Thursday, November 6, students can attend a Mentoring Lunch with guest speaker Mikki Forbes, who will share her First-Gen journey.
The grand reopening of the Woodlyn and Earl Kendrick Indoor Athletic Practice Facility will take place at noon, Friday, November 7, inside Carter Hall.
Friday also brings the First-Gen Fall Festival with food, games, and prizes, followed by Saturday’s First-Gen Tailgate before the CU Mountain Lions’ home football game.
Concord invites everyone to celebrate the strength, spirit, and success of its First-Gen community.
